Wooden Spoon
Wooden Spoon exists to improve the quality and prospect of life for children and young people who are disadvantaged physically, mentally or socially.
Wooden Spoon is a children's charity founded in 1983 that is dedicated to helping underprivileged children and young people all over the UK and Ireland to live happier, richer lives.
We comprise over 40 regional volunteer committees as well as a central national team and we boast more than 10,000 members across the UK and Ireland. The regional committees undertake local fundraising activities and ensure that the money is spent on projects in their community so that the benefit of our work is always immediate, visible and lasting.
During our first 25 years, over half a million young people benefitted from more than £15 million pounds of charitable support thanks to the efforts of our staff and volunteers. We are proud of our legacy, the work we do, and our ambitious plans for the future.
The Wooden Spoon registered charity number is 326691. Scotland No: SCO39247
RFU Injured Players Foundation
The RFU Injured Players Foundation supports people who sustain a catastrophic injury whilst playing rugby. The charity provides help and support for both players and their families in the early months of these injuries as well as in the long term. This help takes many forms, from financial assistance for travel, accommodation and subsistence for family members immediately after the injury occurs, through to lifelong grants for building work and specialist equipment. In addition to this support, the charity takes a more active approach to conducting and supporting research and education aimed at preventing injuries; and identifying how injured players can be helped more effectively.
The RFU Injured Players Foundation registered charity number is 1122139.
Rainbow Trust
Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity provides emotional and practical support for families when their child has a life-threatening or terminal illness. Set up in 1986, they offer the whole family individually tailored high quality support through their eight teams of Family Support Workers. They aim to maintain a sense of normality, and keep families together by ensuring help is provided not only to the sick child, but also anxious parents, grandparents and worried brothers and sisters. No other organisation provides the range of professional care and consistency of contact that Rainbow Trust offers. Their work is a vital emotional and practical lifeline to those who turn to them.
Rainbow Trust offers support at any stage of illness, from diagnosis, during treatment and throughout bereavement. Very importantly, there is no time limit to the care they provide. Rainbow Trust will stay with a family until they feel that they can cope without their support, sometimes for several years after a child has died. Care is provided to families, irrespective of circumstance, ethnicity, social background, nationality or religion. Their vision is that one day all terminally ill children and their families will have access to a Rainbow carer.
